After a long time isn’t it ? Guess, I worked too hard in Build and Release control systems of my company.
Anyways: its not new news on how to get a free US number or redirect them to SIP proxy or IM., whats news is: how to do it without spending a cent.
The method which I am gonna show you to redirect to Instant Messengers like Yahoo! or GTalk.
[+] Register ( Subscribe ) your IM at GTalk2VoIP.com. ( It’s Free, and it has loads of other features! )
( The same way it will appear in Yahoo! or MSN )
[+] Now,open an IM session with GTalk2VOiP in your IM client and type “MYPAGE” without quotes. It will send an URL which is the settings page for your account. Launch your browser to that url: shown in the IM conversation.
[+] In your settings page: note down your SIP number and change quality to G.711.
[+] Now, thats done: we have configured the IM part correctly.
[+] Visit IPKall and click Sign-Up.
[=] Choose any area code of your choice!
[=] Enter the SIP Phone number which you noted down previously.
[=] Enter the SIP Proxy as gtalk2voip.com
[=] Choose any password and leave the seconds before ring up as it is.
[=] Register and a mail will be sent to your email with your number an URL to activate it. Activate it and lo!
[+] Test calls to your new number! and you should get a voice call in your IM.
[+] If you prefer to use a SIP phone, you need a SIP equipment. You need to configure it to any free SIP providers like www.FreeWorldDialup.com or www.MutualPhone.com. After signing up with them, you will get a SIP number like xxx@fwd.pulver.net or such. Change your preferences and then you will get your number ringing to your SIP phone.
Note1: This is an incoming call only service.
Note2: Since this is free, it may be closed anytime without any warning.
Note3: The above steps were actually carried out and tested by me., it was working at the time I did and it worked fine. I cannot vouch for its workability when you try!

Is it legal? If somebody finds out that you don’t own an US number, will you be penalised or something?
